Wild horses in the Namib Desert Namibia
Photograph by Joyce Hughes Rosh Pinah Namibia
Samy and Joyce Hughes from Ireland toured the Namib Desert area about 3 weeks ago and Joyce took these pictures.
These are feral horses which are remnant of the first world war when war broke out between the local Nama people and the colonial masters, Germany. The Schutztruppe's horses during skirmishes disappeared into the veld and turned wild.
